Expanding Jamie鈥檚 International Zero Waste Policy Role

Jamie has participated in Zero Waste policy development at both the Canadian and international levels for many years.

Before accepting the Managing Director role, he served on the ZWIA Board of Directors and as Chair of the ZWIA Zero Waste Hierarchy Working Group. Through this work, he has collaborated with policy advisors, nonprofit organizations, advocates, and practitioners to support greater consistency and credibility in how Zero Waste is defined and applied.

The Managing Director role will give Jamie further opportunities to listen to international partners, learn from examples around the world, and strengthen collaboration across ZWIA鈥檚 global network.

Jamie has accepted this responsibility with gratitude for the trust placed in him and with deep respect for the people and organizations that have contributed to ZWIA鈥檚 work.

Connecting International Knowledge With Practical Action

Zero Waste policies and international frameworks are most valuable when organizations can translate them into practical actions.

Jamie鈥檚 expanded involvement with ZWIA will provide additional opportunities to exchange knowledge, learn from international approaches, and bring those perspectives into his ongoing work in Canada.

International discussions can provide insight into emerging policies, program models, certification approaches, resource-management practices, and implementation challenges. This broader perspective can help inform how Zero Waste principles are interpreted and considered within different facilities, operations, events, and projects.

Continuing HSR Zero Waste鈥檚 Work With Clients

Jamie will continue serving as President of HSR Zero Waste, and our team鈥檚 focus remains unchanged: helping organizations move from Zero Waste goals to practical and measurable implementation.

We congratulate Jamie on accepting this new responsibility and look forward to seeing him continue connecting international Zero Waste policy and knowledge with practical action for organizations across Canada!
