We won the 2026 Clean50 Top Project Award!

HSR Zero Waste is proud to share that our Convention Centre Zero Waste Transformation Project has been recognized as one of Canada’s most impactful sustainability initiatives, earning the 2026 Clean50 Top Project Award.

This national recognition celebrates projects that deliver measurable sustainability outcomes and leadership across Canada. And we’re honoured to stand among the top changemakers driving a cleaner, more circular future.

Transforming Large-Scale Operations into Zero Waste Success

Led by President Jamie Kaminski and supported by the dedicated HSR Zero Waste and Convention Centre teams, the project demonstrated how large facilities can successfully transition toward circular operations.

Through customized zero waste planning, stakeholder engagement, and data-driven improvement, the initiative tackled complex waste streams head-on; achieving measurable reductions in landfill waste while enhancing recycling and composting performance.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and collaboration behind every project we take on,” said Jamie Kaminski, President of HSR Zero Waste. “We’re proud to share this success with our community and everyone who continues to support the journey toward a circular, waste-free future.”

Representing HSR Zero Waste at the Clean50 Summit and Award Ceremony in Toronto were founders Stan and Della Kaminski, who proudly accepted the award on behalf of the entire team.

A Humble Start with a Recycling Heart

HSR Zero Waste’s journey began more than four decades ago with its parent company, HSR, founded by Stan and Della Kaminski on January 1, 1980.

Back then, their mission was simple but powerful. Collecting newspapers from local hotels to raise funds for the Gibsons Boys Club. That small act of community care grew into a lifelong passion for reducing waste and creating meaningful environmental change.

“It’s amazing to look back and see how far we’ve come — from collecting newspapers with a pickup truck to leading national zero waste projects,” said Stan Kaminski, Founder of HSR Zero Waste. “This award is not just for us, but for everyone who believes in making a real difference, one program at a time.”

From Local Roots to National Impact

Building on this strong foundation, Jamie Kaminski established HSR Zero Waste in 2019 to help modern organizations move toward circularity through measurable, results-driven strategies.

Today, the company partners with organizations across Canada and beyond to design, implement, and optimize zero waste programs that turn sustainability goals into real-world impact.
